Welcome to Brookline Tennis Academy — a comprehensive tennis program for both children ages 3-16 and adults. We are committed to providing the best experience for all of our young players, working on all physical, technical, strategic and environmental aspects of tennis. Providing the best in coaching with a well qualified and certified staf, committed to constantly educating ourselves on all that is new and exciting in tennis. We offer a more personalized camp experience with an average of 30 students per week with a 5/6: 1 student teacher ratio.
Situated on one of New England's most beautiful campuses, Pine Manor College is situated on 60 wooded acres where buildings of a former estate blend architecturally with state-of-the-art facilities.
Within these 60 wooded acres is the new tennis complex, 6 Deco Turf Tennis Courts, lighting for evening play and endless parking. This surface is the top choice of touring professionals and is used at the US Open and other tournament sites. The campus also has 2 Platform Tennis (Paddle) Courts with lights for evening play, located behind the Pine Manor Gym. See you on the courts!
The Brookline Tennis Academy complies with the regulations of the Massachusetts Department
of Public Health (105 CMR 430) and is licensed by the City of Newton and the City of Brookline
Board of Health Departments. Families may request to view all camp proceedures as established
by the state and cities.
The development and success of any program is the culmination of many variables. Although learning is an ongoing process, we have created a foundation that works at all levels, ages, and aspirations. As one parent has written, "Shelly's players are nurtured, their talents encouraged, their weaknesses worked on, and their spirits inspired". My coaches and I are committed to continue to learn and build and improve upon our abiliites, giving the gift of a lifetime to all who enter our programs. ~Shelly Mars, Director

Shelly has taught tennis to my three children and myself, both private and group lessons, all seasons of the year. In addition to being a great tennis coach she has an amazing rapport with children and has incredible patience to teach. My children love her summer camp that she runs and look forward to participating in her camp every summer. She is highly organized with her programs and always accessible and responsive to the parents and provides excellent customer service. Everyone I have ever referred to her for either lessons or her camp becomes a loyal follower. ~Sara Stock
Shelly provides superior customer service, excellent quality of instruction and flexibility in programming. She consistently ensures that all players get instruction at
an appropriate level, suficient touches, and remains fully engaged. I am grateful for your flexible enrollment as well as your availability and timely responsiveness to
queries about scheduling. Thanks so much for your continued, excellent service to the local, recreational tennis community. I look forward to continuing to learn from you. ~ Carole Mitnick
Shelly Mars is an incredible tennis player and teacher. Our family has known Shelly for about 4 years during which time she has been the most amazing sports teacher any
of us has ever had. Until Shelly, our kids had various teachers, including some at the Sportsman Tennis Club, and because of the competitive nature of most tennis classes,
they were ready to give up on tennis. Then came Shelly. She has taught us all tennis and paddle tennis and we have gone from tennis watchers to tennis lovers! I am
47 and had never played tennis and due to Shelly's incredible combination of patience, encouragement, enthusiasm and teaching skill, I became good enough to hold my own
in a tennis game against my tennis playing husband. In addition, she has taught our 2 sons for years. They were very skeptical about ANOTHER tennis teacher and they
have come to love tennis and be competent players in a very short time. They love their lessons and last summer went to Shellys camp and had one of their best camp experiences ever. Shelly never runs out of ways to teach, always makes you feel good about your skills while gently pointing out ways to improve. She is skilled with all ages-4-40!
She is a gem. I can't imagine anyone else who would be as tireless, organized, and dedicated. ~Susan Laster
